New Camera for Traveling

The Tercentenary team is traveling to Europe at the end of the year and we wanted to share our experience trying to find some new cameras to take and help us document along the trip. First, we needed to set our parameters around exactly what kind of camera we were looking for – our exact needs and specifications were below:

  • Something easy to carry around
  • Nothing too fancy or that will stand out in another country
  • Takes great video and can handle photos well
  • Needs to be great in low light situations
  • No shutter delay

We’re gonna be real with ya’ – it was no easy task finding a camera that was going to fit our needs exactly to the letter:

At first we checked out some mirrorless cameras, but we found that they were a little bit out of our price range, especially for some of the higher end stuff.

Next, we considered some DSLR’s, but with us wanting to save weight and be “less conscipucous” while traveling through Europe, we didn’t want anything that we needed to carry around extra lenses for.

Our only option left was compact cameras… and boy, there are quite a few. It took us a lot of time, research and due diligence to find find our golden child, but we finally decided on the Panasonic Lumix ZS60!

She’s pretty sexy, eh?

We used a few of these resources to read initial reviews and make our final decision:

Point and shoot camera guide: Best point and shoot cameras 2017

Travel camera guide: Travel cameras for 2017

ThinkMedia TV: Top Small cameras for video

Thanks to all the resources in allowing us to make our final decision! We are excited to share with all of you the amazing photos and videos we are going to get all over Europe come the end of the year, and rest assured, as soon as the camera comes in we will be sharing it here on the site and doing an in-depth review of all of its’ gadgets and features.

Why Photography and Video Is Important To Us…

More than anything we want to inspire and motivate all of you to get out there and make a difference in the world. Through our documentation of the lives we (hopefully) are going to be changing all over Europe, we hope it trickles down to many of you to do the same in your local communities.

With that said, we hope to be a beacon through our photography and video and would love to see any ideas you guys come up with because of it. As the time gets closer, we’ll be posting about our travels and would love to hear and see some of your own photography and video!

Residential Pest Control: What Services Should You Be Offered?

Do you think that your home has become infested with pests and that you are unable to deal with the problem on your own? Having pests at home is a sign of neglect and this problem can easily snowball out of control. Pest created problems vary according to the species of the creature that is involved but they are uniformly difficult to handle without professional help. You’ll need to hire a really good pest control company to deal with the problem before there is a lot of damage to your health or property.

If a pest control company offers the following services then you can be sure that it is a reliable one:

  • Detailed inspection of the premises before making a quote: A really good professional exterminator will always start off by inspecting your home from top to bottom. A company that makes a quotation without even checking to see what the problem is cannot be trusted to do a good job. The inspection of your property will also throw light on various infestations that you might not even be aware of.
  • Extermination of all common pests: A good pest control company will be able to deal with all types of pests, enabling you to get all your infestation problems handled by one company only. Each type of pest has unique habits and has to be destroyed using specific products. What works on ants will not work on rats or spiders.
  • Follow up inspections: The company will send qualified people to your home to check whether all the pests have been exterminated or not. This is very important because the problem will crop up again unless every last creature has been eliminated.
  • Help to prevent further infestations: A professional pest control company will give you advice on how to make your home inhospitable to pests. You’ll save a great deal of trouble and money if you can just prevent pests from setting up home in your house.

You should be very particular when selecting a pest control company to make your house free of unwanted creatures. Be sure to select a company that offers you all the above services at a very good price, without cutting back on quality. It is also a good idea to hire the company to visit your home every 6 months or so in order to ensure that your home is completely free of pests.

For any home or business owner, controlling pests and insects is a major source of headaches. If insects are allowed to get into your property, they can cause damage in a matter of weeks or even days. Not to mention the fact that insects can be very bothersome to guests in your home or customers of your business. So, it is only natural that many property owners would like to know some methods that they can use to cut down on the chances that they will develop an insect problem.

The University of Minnesota provided a resource of insects to keep an eye out for in May 2016.

In the next few paragraphs, you will learn a few simple methods that you can begin utilizing immediately to cut down on the probability that insects will make a home out of your property. Remember that the most important aspect of residential pest control is asking questions and understanding what you are really up against. So, you are taking a good first step by reading through some of these techniques that you can apply yourself.

Food, Water and A Place to Live

In order for insects to make a home out of your property, they need to have a source of the necessities of life. Just like you and I, insects need water, shelter and food. If you leave organic material (like food in the trash can or half empty soda cans) around your home, the chances that you will face a pest problem will increase exponentially. Keep your home and property free of litter and loose food items by keeping floors and counters clear.

Proper Food Storage

Anytime that you store food in your home, you need to take great care in making sure that pests cannot reach it. So, always make sure that your food is sealed in plastic or glass containers. If you ever throw away food scraps, be sure that your trash can be tightly covered or that you place the food scraps into a container before you throw them away. On this same note, be always sure to remove your garbage at regular intervals. The longer your garbage sits around your home, the more likely that you will have a pest problem.

No Standing Water

Standing water is very attractive to many types of insects that might invade your home. So, always make sure to fix any leaky plumbing so water does not accumulate anywhere on your property. One spot in many homes where this happens is in the trays underneath houseplants. Be Always sure to soak up the water from underneath your plants after it drains through the bottom of the pot.

No Places to Hide

Pests and insects love dark places where they can hide. The more clutter that you have around your home, the more difficult it will be to get rid of insects. Stacks of magazines or newspapers are common areas where insects will multiply and you will not be able to see.

At the same time, there are places that insects hide which may be a little bit more difficult to get rid of. For instance, cracks or crevices around the base-boards of your home or cabinets in your kitchen will give insects another great hiding spot. Use some inexpensive caulk to cover these cracks. You might also find that you can use steel wool or wire mesh to fill spaces around pipes or holes in your walls.

Need Your Tree Removed?

Tree removal is an important step and should not be considered as a small deal. A tree should be removed for safety, aesthetic and health purposes. Sometimes, a live tree should also be removed if it in any way interferes with the surroundings like buildings, the other trees, wires or driveways. But always remember the number of years it takes for a plant to turn into a tree. It takes several years to replace a single tree. Tree pruning is, however, an important factor to keep the tree healthy.

Remove all kinds of trees by just calling tree service experts such as Tree Service Modesto CA. They effectively help you remove dead trees, decrease tree crowding, get rid of dying trees, trees that could cause a safety hazard, trees required to be removed from construction land and also trees that have been subjected to storms and hurricanes lying on the ground.

Examination of the Tree is a must.

The moment you feel the need to remove a particular tree growing on your land for reasons you feel obvious, you shall call in for a tree service organization to come and examine the tree before carrying the action forward. They closely examine your tree for treatment of diseases, cutting, pruning or trimming, whatever might be required and then take the process forward. Most of the times, tree removal is the best option and is the most common service offered, after tree pruning.

The best tree removal services eradicate the tree from their roots. They also, precisely deal with the taller tree’s lower sections. Keeping in mind the surrounding and unanticipated falling of a tree, they work on this with all the safety precautions they can take. They also leave the space waiting to be turned into what you want it to be (a garden, a plain land, etc.) by stump-grinding and land patch up. In the case of a dying tree, the team makes sure the branches don’t fall easily hampering your safety, which is of utmost importance. Cost of the Service

You also need to take the cost of the service into account. Tree removal can be very expensive, and also, remember that every tree is very different. You need to make sure that you are looking at the price before you make any obligations. Because every tree is different, some companies will tell you that they need to quote you on the service after they have inspected the property and have a good idea of how much time and effort it will take them to complete the task.

Customer Service

As with any purchase, you need to make sure that the company that you choose is going to be able to provide you with top-notch customer service. You do not want to decide on a company, and then find out that they are not going to be able to provide you with what they say that they will. Make sure that you speak to them on the phone before hiring them, and have a good idea of how they treat their customers. Also, remember that reading reviews from previous customers can be a great leg up when evaluating companies.

When should you call for a tree removal or tree pruning service

You need to call for a service if a tree is uprooted by the wind, has potential to damage people or property around you. In case the tree in your area is infected or has some other problems connected to it, tree removal is not the solution.

Once you have decided that the removal of the tree is needed to continue, then you can look at evaluating the company. Make sure that the company is going to be able to give you top-notch customer service, a reasonable price for the work, and overall will make the transaction smooth and swift as possible for you. Because most people do not have the necessary tools are known to remove trees from their property themselves, often it is a requirement that the entire company did the work. This is especially true in urban areas where there are various laws and regulations associated with it.
