Sri Guru Angad Sahib once said :
and Sri Guru Arjan Sahib has filled and flooded Sri Guru Granth Sahib (The Eternal Guru) with that Light Supernal which surpasses the brilliance and dazzle of thousands of such moons and suns. This light supernal illumines aspiring human hearts and this divine illumination outshines physical brilliance and radiance of thousands of moons and suns. What a unique divine gift and blessing to ailing humanity for all times to come. Actually, Sri Guru Arjan Sahib eternally residing in Sri Guru Granth Sahib shines as a luminous Divine Sun piercing through the dark recesses of human hearts. A single ray of this dazzling Sun is sufficient for spiritual illumination.
From scholarly point of view, it is an extraordinary, a most wonderful poetic master piece. But the Holy contents are actually direct and deep mystic experiences of great Divines, true Lovers of God and unless a person is blessed with intuitive mystic power, a purely spiritual faculty, it is well nigh impossible to reach the mystic depths of the realm of the spirit in these holy hymns.
This Holy Scripture is Guru because every hymn is filled with his Divine Presence and radiates out his Eternal Glory.
No human being can probe the depths of the Eternal Truths enshrined therein.
Gurbani is the celestial channel, the holy medium through which the Divine Grace of our-Lord Guru Nanak flows to us. We in our ignorance and due to our egoistic impulses, are not fully conscious and aware of this.

The holy hymns provide the needed succour to the soul in crisis. Humility of Sri Guru Arjan Sahib knows no limits. He assumes no credit for compilation of this Great Scripture and ascribes all this to the pity taken by the all Merciful and Benevolent Lord on a person like him who has no merit, whatsoever.
Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the Divine and Melodious Soul of Sri Guru Arjan Sahib Himself. As He is the Soul of all Souls and the Light of all Lights and shines in the core of every heart, all man-made restrictions of colour, caste, creed, language, status and geographical limitations stand removed. The Unmanifest Manifested Himself as Guru Nanak. Blessed are those for whose sake He so manifested, blessed is the time, the ?Age? and the world in which He manifested. Blessed are we for whose sake He eternally manifested Himself in Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
